ALSO...... I'm thinking of calling quits on this blog. I'm only going to keep it going if the riders want it. I've been slacking and I would rahter do something proper or nothing at all. Let me know. Inaugural Velokhaya BMX Heritage Cup a great success! (UPDATED)

Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Monday 21 September 2009: More than 90 young South Africans of all races - and ages - decided to celebrate Heritage month by participating in the inaugural Velokhaya BMX Heritage Cup. Continue reading after the link.....






Local riders from the Mother City’s southern and northern suburbs, Mitchells Plain, Strandfontein, Khayamandi (near Stellenbosch) and Khayelitsha competed against those from Durban-based Team Jeep, one of South Africa’s top BMX teams (www.teamjeep.co.za).




The event, which was supported by the City of Cape Town, was held at the Velokhaya BMX Oval in Khayelitsha near Cape Town on Saturday, September 19, 2009.

Velokhaya Heritage Cup

VELOKHAYA BMX OVAL - KHAYELITSHA

This is a fun event being presented with the objective of promoting BMX participation.
The competition will be run in the groups as indicated below which will conform to the rules of BMX racing as laid down by BMX SA.
Entries are limited to 150 with all participants receiving medals and the first three places in each category receiving trophies.
The Velokhaya Heritage Cup* is a floating trophy which will be presented to the winning team of 5 riders.
(*In the spirit of developing the sport this will be contested in the novice classes only. Teams may not have more than 3 riders per class)

And here are the new colours of ....... The Avalanche DV8 bikes that I came up with. This is obviously a totaly entry level bike for the kids just getting into BMX, but for R1359, you can't get anything better right now. Check your LBS for these bikes soon.
